I included in my edit of Inoue and Baldwin’s skate John Baldwin’s “temper tantrum” about the judges’ score of their short program. I don’t know that I think about it. Susie Wynn said that she liked it because it was “honest.” While it’s true that figure skating tends to be a bit stodgy, I kind of like it the decorum that’s expected of its athletes because it’s a breath of fresh air in today’s world. It’s hilarious, though, that Rena stopped his rant. You can tell she compliments John’s fire with calmness.
Paul Wylie calls Rena Inoue “the most talented female pairs skater” in the world. She’s amazing. She’s suffering from an ankle injury, and not only did she nail the throw triple axle (a history-making jump), she made a throw triple loop later on in the program, with a sprained right ankle (the one that absorbs all the pressure coming down). And she makes it all look so easy!

I included this interview (after their long program) in my edit because it’s very interesting. Rena knows in advance if their throws will be successful. And I loved John’s “excuse” for his stumbles, while Rena just laughs. What a character that guy is.
