Another Canadian team. I don’t have much to say about their skate (other than their spins were really far apart), but they bring up an issue. The commentators informed us that Valerie and Craig used to be a romantic couple, but that they recently broke up. Susie Wynn said that “skating has to be more important than the relationship.” It seems that many pairs and dance teams end up becoming romantically involved and even married. I can understand why. They must have intense relationships, with all the time they spend together and the close proximity they have all the time. (It certainly explains Kristy Swanson and Lloyd Eisler after “Skating With Celebrities.”) It must be hard when they break up, like this couple.
