Stephane Lambiel
The amazing thing about Lambiel in this competition is that he came from way behind (7th place, 14 points back) to win it.
Here's Lambiel's short program:

He actually falls during his last spin! I couldn't believe it. This summer, my niece and I went to a “Champions on Ice” performance in Spokane, and one of the most thrilling things about his skate was that I actually saw Lambiel do one of his amazing spins close-up. It was very exciting.
The report is that Lambiel’s short program was so “bad” because he had been touring all off-season and wasn’t in shape. It’s hilarious, though, that the commentators were so certain that there was no way that he’d come from behind, but he did just that and won the whole thing. It’s obvious that Lambiel doesn’t have any patience for reporters, as his interview after his short program shows. Lambiel is trying to control his anger and Peter Carruthers is obviously uncomfortable. Of course, Carruthers is being an idiot once again.

So in spite of not being ready for the season and having a disastrous short program, Lambiel wins Skate Canada. Unfortunately, he had to pull out of the Grand Prix at NHK due to illness. Perhaps there was some truth to him being out of condition after all.
