Kimmie Meissner

Peggy Fleming, about Kimmie Meissner: "I've said it before; I'll say it again--she, I think is the new face of figure skating."

Of course, Peggy said that after Kimmie won the Worlds' Championship. And of course, she's right. I just reviewed Kimmie's performance, and it's amazing. She hit every jump (six, I think), and was perfect in all her elements.

Just a year before, Kimmie was too young to compete in the 2005 World's, so ABC hired her to go to Moscow as a guest commentator. They followed her around, she tried caviar for the first time. I remember being impressed with her at that time. She took the fact that although she was proficient enough to compete, her youth precluded her, in stride. She seemed to have a great time. She must have known it would be worth it to simply bide her time and wait until last season.

Just imagine how much she'll improve by 2010!
